The Santander X Brazil Award is a Banco Santander initiative that annually recognises the most innovative university projects and start-ups in Brazil. The projects were assessed by a panel made up of professors, entrepreneurs and investors, based on six criteria: impact, innovation, feasibility, understanding of the cause, competitive advantage and team structure. The Brazilian winners are also guaranteed a place in the Santander X Global Award, the international stage of the competition.

Go Scope went through a rigorous selection process that included mentoring and qualifications over a period of months. CEO Dr Vinicius Nickel was at the head of the entire journey, and the startup highlights the fundamental role of mentor Leonardo Bona in developing the business model during this period. The victory reinforces that the portable endoscopic camera - conceived while still in medical residency - meets the criteria that investors and specialists look for in high-impact solutions.

“This achievement is another step in our mission to make access to healthcare faster in order to save lives.”
— Dr. Vinicius Nickel, CEO and Founder of Go Scope

Go Scope is a medical technology start-up based in Pinhais, Paraná, founded by otorhinolaryngologist Dr Vinicius Nickel. Its portable endoscopic camera allows examinations to be carried out directly at the patient's bedside, in remote outpatient clinics and emergency situations, eliminating the need for large fixed equipment. The solution was validated in a clinical study published by HUPE/UERJ and is the Grand Champion of Rede Globo's Rocket 2025.

Winning the Santander X Brazil Award University 2025 goes beyond national recognition: the victory guaranteed Go Scope a place in the global stage of the Santander X Global Award, which will bring together the best university start-ups from various countries in March 2026. Another international stage to show that a camera developed during a medical residency in Rio de Janeiro can change the way the world sees bedside diagnostics.
