Prof. Dr Roberto Medronho is one of the most prominent figures in Brazilian public health. A medical graduate from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), with a master's degree and a PhD in Public Health from Fiocruz, he is a Full Professor at the UFRJ Faculty of Medicine, a CNPq researcher, a member of the National Academy of Medicine, and coordinator of the university's Laboratory of Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases. His leadership at the head of UFRJ represents an institutional vision of bringing science, innovation, and social impact closer together, an environment where a solution like Go Scope can find fertile ground to grow.
The invitation to join the UFRJ Technology Park represents a strategic leap for the startup. The park's ecosystem brings together partner institutions, laboratories and researchers operating on the frontier between academia and the market. This is an ideal environment for the development of new technologies and for clinical validation at scale. More than just a physical space, the park paves the way for Go Scope to draw closer to the public sector and broadens the possibilities for implementing the portable endoscopic camera in university hospitals and healthcare units across the country.
The meeting at the rector's office was the beginning of a conversation about the future of medical technology in Brazil. Go Scope is arriving at the UFRJ Science Park with a solution that has already been clinically validated, ready to be tested in new contexts, scaled and integrated into public health networks. The next step is to turn this invitation into concrete results for patients who today still depend on large, fixed equipment to access a routine scan.
“The aim is to bring Go Scope closer to the public sector and expand the possibilities of implementing the technology to generate social impact.”
— Maria Margarida Canan Drehmer, Commercial Director of Go Scope

Go Scope was born within a medical residency in Rio de Janeiro and is returning to the city that saw it emerge at a completely different moment: with validated technology, national awards won, and now the doors of one of the country's largest universities open. The portable endoscopic camera developed by Dr. Vinicius Nickel makes it possible to perform examinations at the patient's bedside, in remote outpatients' clinics, and in emergencies, without depending on fixed hospital infrastructure. What started as an idea during medical training is becoming health policy.
